CBN Strengthens Strategy and Innovation Capabilities Through Impact and Value-Driven Execution

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has taken a significant step in strengthening its strategy execution and performance management capabilities through the deployment of structured Impact Assessment and Benefits Realization practices across its strategic project portfolio.

This initiative reflects the Bank’s continued commitment to ensuring that strategic programmes and initiatives deliver clear, measurable value aligned with institutional priorities. By embedding impact and benefits realization into its strategy management processes, CBN is reinforcing a more evidence-based, outcome-focused approach to decision-making and resource allocation.

As part of this effort, CBN engaged iCentra to provide strategic support in strengthening internal capabilities for assessing impact and realizing benefits from key initiatives. Working closely with the Strategy and Innovation Management Department to develop practical, context-specific approaches tailored to the realities of a central banking environment.

The engagement focused on building a shared understanding of global best practices while ensuring strong alignment with the Bank’s existing governance structures, project management methodology, and strategic objectives. Particular emphasis was placed on measuring both tangible and intangible benefits, improving data collection and reporting, and strengthening stakeholder alignment across the project lifecycle.

A major outcome of the engagement was the co-creation and validation of Bank-specific frameworks for Impact Assessment and Benefits Realization. These frameworks provide CBN with a structured approach to linking strategy to outcomes, improving accountability, and strengthening the communication of project value to internal and external stakeholders.

Beyond the development of tools and frameworks, the engagement strengthened institutional capacity, equipping teams with the skills and confidence required to independently apply impact and benefits realization practices across current and future initiatives.

This milestone further underscores CBN’s commitment to strong governance, innovation, and performance management, and positions the Bank to more effectively demonstrate value-for-money, improve project prioritization, and sustain long-term institutional impact.

iCentra is proud to support the Central Bank of Nigeria on this journey and remains committed to partnering with public institutions to strengthen strategy execution, governance, and value-driven performance.
