Job Description

Title: Corporate Communications Specialist

Location: Abuja, Nigeria

Job Summary: The Corporate Communications Specialist is responsible for developing, managing and executing the company’s internal and external communications strategies. This role involves creating and disseminating high-quality content, maintaining the corporate image, and ensuring effective communication with stakeholders, including employees, customers, investors, and the media. Additionally, the Corporate Communications Specialist will plan and manage corporate programs and events to engage stakeholders and promote the company’s brand.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Communication Strategy:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies that align with the company’s goals and objectives.
    • Plan and manage communication campaigns, including crisis communication.
  2. Content Creation:
    • Create compelling and relevant content for various communication channels, including press releases, newsletters, social media, website, and internal communications.
    • Ensure all content is consistent with the company’s brand voice and messaging.
  3. Media Relations:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts.
    • Manage media inquiries and coordinate interviews with company spokespeople.
    • Monitor media coverage and prepare media reports.
  4. Internal Communications:
    • Develop and implement internal communication plans to keep employees informed and engaged.
    • Organize internal events, such as town halls and employee recognition programs.
    • Manage internal communication channels, such as intranet and internal newsletters.
  5. Crisis Communication:
    • Prepare and execute crisis communication plans.
    • Act as a key point of contact during crises, providing clear and timely information to stakeholders.
  6. Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Ensure effective communication with all stakeholders, including employees, customers, investors, and the community.
    • Develop and manage stakeholder communication plans.
  7. Brand Management:
    • Maintain and enhance the company’s brand image and reputation.
    • Ensure brand consistency across all communication materials and channels.
  8. Programs and Events:
    • Plan, coordinate, and execute corporate programs and events to engage stakeholders and promote the company’s brand.
    • Work with internal and external partners to ensure the successful delivery of events.
    • Manage event logistics, including venue selection, catering, invitations, and follow-up.
  9. Measurement and Reporting:
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns.
    • Prepare regular reports on communication activities and outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in corporate communications or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong media relations skills and experience.
  • Ability to create engaging content for various platforms.
  • Proficiency in using communication tools and platforms.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience in planning and executing corporate events.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

  3. Internal Communication Effectiveness:
    • Conduct surveys to gauge employee satisfaction with internal communications.
    • Target: Achieve an 80% satisfaction rate in internal communication surveys.
  4. Crisis Management Response Time:
    • Measure the time taken to respond to crises and disseminate information.
    • Target: Issue a crisis response within 1 hour of incident notification.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Monitor feedback from stakeholders regarding communication effectiveness.

  6. Brand Consistency:

    • Track the completion time of communication projects and campaigns.

    • Monitor website visits and social media follower growth.
