Taiwo Abraham has received the prestigious PMIEF James R. Snyder Award at the PMI Global Conference which held in Los Angeles, USA from 6th to 8th of October 2018. Mr Abraham, a PMO specialist and Senior Consultant at iCentra Consulting, won the award in recognition of his research paper titled “PMO Longevity: Implementation Phase Inputs and PMO-Operations Management Integration”. Prior to his departure for an MBA program in the United States, he led iCentra’s Establishment of an Enterprise Programme Management Office (EPMO) at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
In his research paper, he focused on how organizations can more successfully implement project management office (PMO) by investigating what implementation phase factors influence the longevity of a PMO. The factors he studied included implementation team composition, project championship, organizational change readiness, strategic goal alignment and PMO domiciliation. This award category specifically selects research and creative efforts that are best directed toward advancing the concepts, tools and techniques of managing project-oriented tasks, and Mr Abraham is the ninth recipient of the coveted award.
Speaking on his recent achievement, he said “My goal has always been to participate in the development of project management knowledge at a global level. The big picture is to be one of the top, most successful project management professionals in terms of knowledge contribution and the advancement of the PM profession. Some time ago, I decided to achieve that through research, consulting with government agencies on sensitive projects that are critical to the development of the government and countries and leading some of the profession-coordination efforts at the PMI.”
While currently pursuing a Ph.D. candidacy in management, he is leading the deployment of a facility management automation application for one of Canada’s largest power generation companies.
